Figure 1. Examples of Federal Funding Agencies and Programs That Assist States and Local Agencies with Human Services Transportation

Diagram shows a series of programs sponsored by a variety of agencies. These agencies include DOT, which sponsors program 5310 for the elderly and disabled, program 3037 (JARC), and others. DOL sponsors welfare to work, workforce investment programs, and others. HHS sponsors TANF, medicaid, head start, senior center grants, and others. Education sponsors vocational education and others. An open area indicates other government- or state-sponsored programs.

The diagram indicates that these programs interact with transportation service providers (including transit agencies, brokerage organizations, taxi services, and volunteers) in several ways, including through referals, reporting and invoicing, and payment.
