| Project Description: | This project supports the development, installation and evaluation of new, advanced traffic controllers (ATC) for integration into the signal system for New York City's five boroughs. The project will develop controller prototypes, field test hardware and software, and evaluate system performance before installing additional ATCs at various locations around the City. The development of the controller prototype specification will be completed under the Topics program using $0.2M of city funds. After the specification was completed (March 1999), the city will develop a separate contract to furnish and install the new controllers at approximately 500-1000 intersections. ITS funds will be used for the installation contract. | |
